In my opinion, it has no point. I am a strong supporter of Vice President Al Gore. If Gore was to win the popular vote, and lose the electoral vote, that would be terrible. If more people in the United States want Gore, than he should be the next president. I understand that the founding fathers created the Electoral College because it was easier back then.
The situation in Florida is particularly interesting. I think that Katherine Harris, Florida's secretary of state, is not doing her duty because she is not acting non-partisan. By saying she will not consider any future hand count results, she is giving a message to America that George Bush should win her state without any future consideration from fair, honest recounts.
In school, we have been constantly been glued to the TVs and watching special reports about the latest election news. I am amazed that so many people have such an interest in this election. I have gotten my classmates into elections before, but this is the first one in which there was a particularly large amount of interest. I think it is good for the American public and it is exciting for me and many others to get involved in our government.
