Lowe re-emerging as Sox closer

Lowe re-emerging as Sox closer
Derek Lowe, who had 42 saves for the Boston Red Sox last season, is re-emerging as the Red Sox closer. He had so many awful performances, that Rod Beck and Rolando Arrojo took over the closer's job. Arrojo had 4 saves, and Beck had 3. Lowe reassured all Red Sox fans that he can still be a good closer on Friday night- when he had to work out of jams in the 9th and 10th innings. In the tenth inning, Lowe worked out of a bases-loaded, 1 out jam without allowing a run. He was then rewarded with a victory, as the Sox got two runs in the top of the eleventh.
Lowe has definitely looked good in his last eight appearances, not allowing an earned run in any of them. Lowe looks like that he will get a late start to the 2001 campaign, but it will be a successful one. Lowe hopes for much more success this season. Expect a few losses, like you can with any closer, but also expect dazzle.
