We shouldn't have gotten rid of Brogna

I know many of you will disagree with me, but I think that Dan Duquette's move of not tendering Rico Brogna a contract was a bad move. First of all, he is one of the better defensive first basemen in the game. Daubach has improved this season, but overall Brogna is better than Daubach fielding.

Rico Brogna also hits CONSISTANTLY- unlike Brian Daubach. Yes, Daubach always seems to be there at the big moment, when we need a big hit, but he is too streaky. He may hit seven home runs in three days, and not hit one for a month, like he did earlier this season. Brogna came up with a big grand slam last year in the Bottom of the ninth at Fenway, don't you remember? Yes, Daubach is better than Brogna in the clutch, but consistant hitting is what we need, ESPECIALLY with Manny in the lineup. I wouldn't mind seeing Brogna in the three spot in our lineup, with Everett fifth.

Brogna does have power. Brogna hits home runs each year, frequently.. averages about 20 a year. Daubach hits 35, but Brogna does have power, and gets more than singles and homers like Daubach, he gets the doubles when they really count.
